HSH is very active in our community--both parents and students!

The Elizabeth A. Mac Donald Charitable Foundation “EAMF” (founded by a former HSH parent!) and Hollywood Schoolhouse proudly announce The 2nd Annual Halloween Costume Drive. We will be collecting costumes for the pediatric cancer patients at Kaiser on Sunset. Your donations of NEW costumes, boas, wigs, wands and other fun accessories will make a very needy population extremely happy this Halloween. Due to the severe nature of their illnesses and compromised immune systems, it’s crucial that ONLY NEW outfits are donated.
The generosity of the HSH community was overwhelming last year and together we were able to create a fantastic Costume Shoppe for the patients and their siblings and look forward to another successful year. This committee organizes HSH parents to involve them in community service activities. This year, we will be addressing the issue of homelessness. This committee is a great way to make a difference in our school and in Los Angeles. It is also a great way to get to know better other HSH parents.
Also this year:
We are continuing our two-year commitment to support PATH (people helping the homeless):
Some of the homeless-related activities you can help with include:
· preparing and serving dinners for the transitional homeless shelter PATH
· planning a Big Sunday activity that helps the homeless
· working with the staff and teachers to organize our community to support advocacy efforts to help the homeless
· planning educational programs for parents at Parents Association meeting
· advising the staff and teachers about service learning efforts
Our Community Service Committee also works with the staff and teachers regarding HSH responses to world crises (famines, earthquakes, etc.) and organizes parent participation in a community supported agriculture project that delivers fresh, local, organic produce to interested HSH families once a week.
