ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIESThe Hollywood Schoolhouse provides many opportunities for children to participate in a variety of programs in addition to their academic study. As students move through the elementary program, the curriculum is a blending of academics and fine arts. We find that this approach helps students develop creative and analytic abilities as well as offering children the opportunity to engage in a variety of learning experiences. FIELD TRIPSClasses take regularly scheduled field trips to museums, cultural sites, zoos, fairs and other Southern California sites. Middle School students attend a three-day outdoor environmental education program each Fall. Outdoor Ed focuses on team-building, survival techniques and provides a way for students to have a deeper connection with the environment.
ELECTIVE PROGRAMOur elective program enables students to choose from a variety of subjects and activities to enrich their studies. Electives are offered in art, chess, ecology, music, performance, stage crew, and photography. Students also have the option of participating in after-school enrichment activities such as gymnastics, swimming, chess, basketball, games and more. Homework Helpers Every Tuesday and Thursday, middle school students mentor younger students for one hour as they work on homework together in the library. With one-on-one assistance, the younger students complete their homework in a quiet, friendly setting.
